This is one of those situations where I seriously cannot condone the murders... but at the same time I can understand the desperation that only came to be because of the times they lived in. This is one of the many reasons Christ came to this world. To elevate women and children from being seen as mere objects to be used, to avoid women and men hurting one another and children so people could live in harmony... 

Murder is wrong.

I however feel bad because I can understand their situation. Thankfully times changes and now women have better options... but wow... for fifty years and no one said a peep... That speaks a lot about the men (and the few women or perhaps parents) that were murdered by desperate wives, mistresses, husbands, and children to get them off their lives. 

Why would you mistreat someone that essentially feeds you and makes your bed and controls your schedule in some way? It makes no sense... Any servant be it someone you pay or a spouse (it tends to be mostly women of course) any person that serves you in some intimate way can be a danger to you if you treatment badly. I cannot stand by their decision to murder and I cannot say that I wouldn't do the same because I was not there and I have a great life in comparison to them... Murder is too final of a solution their desperation (I am assuming at least the majority were truly desperate and abused) must have been overwhelming to want to go through with something like that and then be so loyal to say nothing... meaning that their conscience was not even overwhelmingly hurting them... wow...   

It takes a philosophy that views women and children as humans deserving of love and protection to not treat them in a way that leads them to believe that murder is the only way to be rid of the abuse. It takes longsuffering to accept the abuse in the situation where there is no escape. Although I would have hoped I would have just taken as much money and goods from the house and left for another country... That I think is the solution to that problem unless there is some law preventing that... As a wife she has a right to those items so it shouldn't be considered theft. Especially if it is money left to her by her family she should leave but that of course leaves the poor women not being able to afford to go anywhere... Sadness all along. She sounds like someone that was trying to help, but this is too crazy.
